These StellarNet UV-VIS spectrometers are compact, portable fiber optic instruments that measure how a sample absorbs or transmits light across the ultraviolet and visible spectrum. Each one disperses incoming light into its component wavelengths and reads the intensity at each with a detector. You can use them for inline process monitoring, laboratory analysis, field measurement, or as an embedded module in your own equipment. The range covers eight configurations. They differ in wavelength coverage, resolution, sensitivity and cost, so you can match the instrument to the measurement rather than over-specifying.
Choosing a Model
BLUE-Wave is the general-purpose workhorse. It covers a broad UV through near-infrared window and offers a choice of standard models, with custom wavelength ranges available. Its fast 16-bit electronics and very small enclosure suit process, lab and field work. A software development kit is included at no charge, which makes it the natural starting point for OEM integration.
BLACK-Comet models use concave grating optics with no mirrors in the optical path. This design minimizes stray light and gives flat-field imaging for uniform resolution across the detector. With no optical adjustments, the optics are thermally stable and rugged. The standard BLACK-Comet has enhanced UV sensitivity. The Super Range (SR) version uses a dual-blaze grating to extend coverage for wide-range applications. The High Resolution (HR) version trades some range for finer spectral detail. A thermo-electrically cooled detector upgrade is available to raise signal-to-noise.
SILVER-Nova is the well-rounded option for low-light work. It uses a UV-enhanced CCD detector with optical lens assemblies. TE cooling improves signal-to-noise at long exposures, and a two-stage TEC variant gives deeper cooling and further noise reduction. Interchangeable slit upgrades let you rebalance throughput against resolution after purchase.
High Resolution HR and High Resolution X are for applications where resolving closely spaced lines matters, such as emission analysis or narrow-band source characterization. HR doubles the resolution of the standard models. X uses a longer optical path to double it again, and is strongest above the visible region. Both come in UV-VIS and NIR versions. Units can be stacked to cover a wide range at high resolution.
GREEN-Wave is the most affordable model, with volume discounts available. It shares the compact enclosure and low power draw of BLUE-Wave and is suited to teaching labs and cost-sensitive deployments where top-end signal-to-noise isn’t required.
Applications
- Semiconductor and thin-film processing: monitoring transmission and reflectance of coatings and wafers, or tracking plasma emission during etch and deposition.
- Laser and light-source characterization: verifying the emission spectrum of LEDs, lamps and laser sources. The high resolution models suit narrow lines.
- Medical and life-science equipment: absorbance measurements embedded in analyzers, where the SDK and small footprint simplify OEM design.
- Chemical and pharmaceutical process control: inline concentration monitoring through fiber probes, keeping the instrument away from the process stream.
- Education: GREEN-Wave gives teaching labs a real fiber optic spectrometer at an accessible cost.

Why Buy Through Wavelength Optics USA
Picking the right spectrometer comes down to the trade-offs between range, resolution, slit width, grating and cooling. Getting those wrong is expensive to fix after integration. When you work with Wavelength Optics USA, you deal with a US-based team in your time zone that can help with those choices before you commit.
- Selection support: tell us your sample, light level and spectral features of interest, and we’ll help you narrow down the model, grating and slit combination.
- Fast quoting: send a part number or a description of your measurement
